“Education has always been at the center of my life, as a student, as a teacher and as an advocate. I can’t think of a better way to contribute to my community than by protecting the promise of public education for everyone.”
Roberto Rodriguez believes a well rounded college education is a fundamental right. Palomar students must have access to diverse courses and curriculum, including the arts and technical education programs, in order to be competitive not only in the local labor market, but a global society as well. Roberto understands that the heart of Palomar College lies in it's students, and will continue to champion policies and programs that prioritize student success and workforce development.
During his first term, Roberto Rodriguez ensured Palomar College addressed financial concerns. Today the college on a strong financial footing with a balanced budget, and reserves for unforeseen challenges. He is proud that the budget continues to prioritize employees and students with a focus on equity and accessibility.
Fiscally Responsible
Student Centered
Roberto Rodriguez has worked hard to develop a shared vision, based on common values among all Palomar College stakeholders. During his four years on the board he played a role in hiring a dynamic College President; the college received its strongest accreditation ever, the college’s finances have turned around, and so much more. That’s why Roberto is trusted by his board colleagues who have elected him President of the board for two consecutive terms, and why he has been endorsed twice by the faculty and staff of Palomar College.
